Pat Quinn clear choice for governor
As we prepare to go to the polls, keep in mind why we vote. Since I am very active in the political process, I feel the need to recommend "the people's" best choice for governor and that choice could not be clearer. Pat Quinn, as one endorsement put it, "is looking out for the little guy," and I agree.
Some people may not remember that is was Pat Quinn who founded the Citizens Utility Board. This group of common people, concerned about utility rates, has done much over the years. Remember the power line issue in Kane County? It was Pat Quinn who led the successful fight for a healthy and progressive alternative.
In this state's history, Pat Quinn will be remembered for assuming leadership in a time of great crisis. He will also be remembered for working for what's right for Illinois - whether or not it is popular. As governor, he pushes politics aside and acts in a bipartisan way.
Even though the state's leadership was no longer talking when he became governor and government had come to a standstill, Pat Quinn led the way for Illinois' first capital bill in over 10 years. The $31 billion capitol bill will create over 400,000 new jobs. With so many people's "eye" on this election and their conflicts of interest, it was no easy feat.
