Cook County will never see fair taxes

After the mail arrived, my wife said, "The real estate tax bill is in today's mail. Sit down before you read it."

The amount was shockingly larger than I had expected.

Then I read the enclosed notice stating the Illinois Legislature passed a law that real estate tax bills would be calculated at 55 percent rather than the usual 50 percent of our obligation.

This morning, I heard from another source that the second installment would be calculated at 45 percent of our obligation to offset this increase.

Would we actually be fairly taxed in Cook County? Really? Should the FAA beef up its staff of air traffic controllers to manage all the flying pigs?
