African-American ministers back Hynes

African-American ministers from throughout Chicago say they'll work to help Democrat Dan Hynes win Tuesday's primary election for Illinois governor.

Hynes appeared with more than a dozen ministers and other supporters to demonstrate his support in the black community.

Hynes' opponent, Gov. Pat Quinn, has bragged about having deep support from black elected officials.

The ministers criticized Quinn for having called on Sen. Roland Burris to resign from President Barack Obama's old Senate seat.

The ministers also say they don't hold the actions of Dan Hynes' father against him. Tom Hynes left the Democratic Party to try to unseat Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor, more than 20 years ago.

Quinn and Hynes are locked in a tight primary race.
