New on DVD: 'Michael Jackson: This Is It'
"Michael Jackson: This Is It"
The late Michael Jackson was the most popular performer in the world.
Before his death last summer, he had not toured in 10 years and was preparing for a 50-date sold-out series of concerts in London. Michael had put together a great show featuring outstanding musicians, dancers, costumes and set designs.
This film has been compiled from 120 hours of rehearsal footage that was shot from April through June of 2009. Producer Kenny Ortega worked beautifully with Michael, and we get to see his collaboration with the entire production. It is exciting to watch and hear Michael as he performs songs that span his entire career - from his early Jackson Five days to songs from popular albums like "Thriller" to new material with great special 3-D effects.
The special features include two documentaries and three featurettes.
"Celtic Women: Songs From the Heart"
The public was first introduced to these beautiful and talented Irish women in their PBS special. Celtic Women appeared in Chicago to sold-out audiences. Among them are: "The Call," "When You Believe," "True Colours," "Amazing Grace," "Pie Jesu," "Danny Boy," "Fields of Gold," "The Coast of Galicia" and "You Raise Me Up."
"Legends of Laughter: Abbott & Costello"
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were one of the best and most enduring comedy teams in show business history. They were stars of radio, film and television throughout the 1940s and '50s. Their style of comedy and rapid-fire wordplay set the framework for their most famous routines including "Who's on First?" "Two Tens for a Five," "Hertz U-Drive" and "Fleeing Flu."
This six-disc set includes 17 celebrity-studded episodes of "The Abbott & Costello Show" on radio, 20 classic movie trailers, 14 TV episodes of the "Colgate Comedy Hour," a 1943 World War II public service announcement and the feature films "Africa Screams" and "Jack and the Beanstalk."
