Dwayne Douglas for judge

The upcoming primary election has a heated race on the Democratic ticket for circuit court judge in the 4th subcircuit.

As a practicing attorney dealing exclusively in Lake County, the former president of the Association of Women Attorneys and current secretary of the Lake County Bar Association, I think I add a unique perspective as to who might be best fit to accept the responsibilities of that job.

To me, a judge first and foremost should have vast knowledge of the law and how it applies to various circumstances of everyday life. He or she should also be the arbiter of disputes between parties and have no bias toward either party despite their personal opinion. A judge's job is to apply the existing law to the facts of each case.

To that end, I endorse Dwayne Douglas. Dwayne Douglas exemplifies the conduct that best fits the definition of a judge. He understands our community in Lake County. He is active in local government, the Lake County Bar Association and has served as my co-chair for the Campaign for Legal Services serving indigent litigants in Lake County. He has demonstrated knowledge of the law and fights for what is equitable and meaningful for his clients. Further, his passion and drive are rooted in our community, without hidden agendas.

In this upcoming election, I urge the citizens of the 4th subcircuit of Lake County to vote for Dwayne Douglas, the most qualified Democratic candidate for circuit court judge.
