Wis. day care van driver accused of DUI

MADISON, Wis. -- A Middleton man is accused of driving a day care van while intoxicated with three young passengers inside.

Madison police say the driver was arrested Tuesday afternoon after picking up the children from Aldo Leopold Elementary School. Officers say they received a tip about the possible drunk driver, an employee of Early Childhood Learning Center. Police say the driver has a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.

The day care center's owner, Joyce Boggess, tells WMTV-TV the driver has been picking up children for about 15 years without any problems.

The van passengers, ages 5, 7 and 9 were picked up at the scene of the arrest by another day care employee.
