Fake repairmen steal goods from Arlington Hts. home
Two men scammed an 81-year-old woman at her home on the 0-100 block of West Berkley Drive, Arlington Heights, 10 a.m.-noon Jan. 23. They knocked on her door and told her she needed roof repairs. One of the men went upstairs; the second directed the woman into her kitchen. They asked her to make change for a $100 bill, but she told them she did not have that much money in the house. When they asked her where she kept her money, she ordered them to leave; she later discovered her wedding/engagement ring and a watch missing. Her loss was estimated at $820.
