Chicagoan accused in terrorist attack due in court
A Chicago man is headed for federal court to answer charges that he scouted out the Indian city of Mumbai to prepare the way for terrorist attacks that left 166 people including six Americans dead.
David Coleman Headley is also charged with planning a violent attack on a Danish newspaper whose cartoons offended Muslims.
He's due to appear Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Arlander Keys.
If he's convicted of the most serious charges, the 49-year-old Headley could be sentenced to death. Federal prosecutors say, however, that he is cooperating in their investigation.
