Arlington Heights couple conned out of jewelry
Two men stole five gold rings with precious stones from an elderly couple on the 2100 block of Charter Point Drive, Arlington Heights, around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 21. They approached the 87-year-old husband as he drove into his garage and told him they were doing plumbing repairs in the townhouse complex. One man asked the victim to run water in the upstairs bathroom, and the second offender directed the victim's wife to the kitchen to run hot water into a pail. After the offenders had driven away, the couple discovered the rings missing. Valued was estimated at $14,750.
