Kirk not what he says he is
I really don't understand why Mark Kirk is running for the U.S. Senate as a Republican. I used to think he was all right. After all, he's been a frequent guest of Don and Roma on WLS, he's a Republican congressman and has served our nation as a member of the Naval Reserves. So far, so good.
When I started to hear about some of the legislation he has supported, I scratched my head, but just assumed that I didn't have a good understanding of everything the legislation entailed. Then I started reviewing voter guides: Mark Kirk lines up perfectly with Democratic candidates, and stands in stark opposition to those running on the Republican ticket! Mr. Kirk will do little or nothing to advance the Republican platform, and is not worthy of the support of true conservatives.
Fellow citizens and voters, please review the candidates who want to represent us. Don't vote for someone just because of the "D" or "R" after his or her name. Look at voter guides, review the candidates' Web sites or other campaign material, and examine their voting records. If "we the people" don't start doing our homework, we're going to end up with the kind of government we deserve. I just hope it's not already too late.
