30 teams expected to play in Fire Cup tournament

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club's annual Chicago Fire Cup Indoor Tournament will take place Feb. 13-14 at the Regional Sports Center in Crystal Lake.

The 5th Annual Chicago Fire Cup is expected to have the highest turnout ever with at least 30 teams and more than 500 players participating. The Cup's Championship games will be played at Toyota Park prior to the Fire's 2010 opening night match against the San Jose Earthquakes on April 10.

Every team in the Fire Cup gets to play three 45-minute games. The boy's teams play their games on Feb. 13, and the girls will take center stage on Feb. 14. After all the games have been played, 12 teams will earn the privilege to play at Toyota Park for the right to be called the 2010 Chicago Fire Cup Champions.

Teams that do not qualify for the finals will have opportunities for players to participate in the "Tunnel of Fire", and one team each will have the chance to either be Ball Kids (U-12 or older) or Flag Kids (U-10 or older) at home games during the 2010 season.

As part of the tournament, all the players will receive a complimentary corner kick ticket to the Fire's Opening Night game with additional tickets for coaches, families and friends at a price of only $24 ($4 savings).
