Sky CEO Stender to lead business talk in Batavia

Margaret Stender, CEO of the Chicago Sky, will be the featured speaker for the Batavia Women in Business luncheon on Feb. 9

Stender, president and CEO of the WNBA team, will talk about building a business and brand from the ground up at the bimonthly luncheon at Lincoln Inn Banquets, 1345 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia.

The event costs $25 for members and $30 for non-members and guests and begins at 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration for the luncheon is necessary by Feb. 8, and participants should contact the Batavia Chamber online at bataviachamber.org or call 630-879-7134.

Stender will share her experience of launching a women's professional sports team completely from scratch and creating a culture based on active community involvement. She will also speak to "The Sky brand", which pledges to teach girls of all ages to value their self-worth and to become strong, goal oriented and passionate, while understanding the importance of teamwork.

Stender brings her 24 years of extensive leadership experience in business development, operations, management and marketing for high-profile brands and business units of Fortune 100 companies to her role as president of the Sky. Prior to the Sky, Stender led two business units for PepsiCo, and spent 18 years at the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago.
