Elgin man charged in sex assault on 6-year-old
An Elgin man was behind bars Tuesday on charges he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl, police said.
Jesus Urieta-Dominguez, 28, of the 400 block of Jewett Street, was arrested Sunday after the victim reported the assault to her mother, according to Elgin police Lt. Greg Welter.
Welter said the assault took place at Urieta-Dominguez's home a short time before it was reported, and the suspect was arrested without incident. Urieta-Dominguez previously knew the girl, police said.
He was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child younger than 13. If convicted of the most serious offense, a Class X felony, he would face six to 30 years in prison.
Urieta-Dominguez, whose next court is Feb. 5, was being held in the Kane County jail Tuesday with bond set at $500,000. He appears to have no prior criminal history in Kane County; there was no attorney listed for him in court records.
