Molina for Kane County Board District 1, Democratic primaryDemocrat Myrna Molina is our choice in the Kane County Board District 1 primary race over incumbent Sylvia Leonberger.Leonberger has served on the board, representing Aurora, since 2006. She has been a hard worker, attended many committee meetings, yet seems slightly out of touch when it comes to the board's decision-making. She admits she oftentimes has questions on how some issues are resolved. "We need to be more open (on the board)," she says.We agree the board should be more open and Molina is the best candidate to break the logjam.Molina, who was appointed to the board and served from August to December in 2006, is more than ready to pick up where she left off. Molina is energetic and will reach out to the constituents and actively promote their agenda on the board.Her No. 1 goal is to tackle the gap between the district's residents and their access to information about county services. "The current disconnect in the First District is unacceptable," she says.Molina strikes us as a leader and not a follower, and the county board can use more of her type.
