Carpentersville woman charged in man's stabbing
A Carpentersville woman has been accused of stabbing a man eight times in the back after an argument Sunday in the Fox View Apartments, police said.
Dorian L. Redwood, 30, of the 0-100 block of Oxford Drive, has been charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery.
The 24-year-old man, who Redwood knows, was being treated at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he remained as of Monday afternoon, Police Cmdr. Michael Kilbourne said. His condition was unknown Monday.
According to police, Redwood and the man were arguing inside an apartment in the 0-99 block of Oakcrest at 12:36 a.m. when a relative separated them. Police don't know what the pair was arguing about.
As the man tried to leave, Redwood "came out of the kitchen area and stabbed him several times in the back," Kilbourne said.
Redwood, arrested on the scene, sustained a cut on her hand during the fracas and was treated and released from Sherman the same day, police said.
Redwood's bond was set Monday morning at $250,000, which means she needs $25,000 to secure her release for the pending court case.
Redwood was unable to post bond and remained in the Kane County lockup Monday.
She is due in court Feb. 3 at the Kane County Judicial Center and could spend between six and 30 years in prison if found guilty of attempted murder.
