Space heater may be to blame for Naperville fire
No one was hurt in an early morning fire that caused extensive damage to a Naperville home, firefighters said.
The Naperville Fire Department received a call at 1:05 a.m. Sunday from a resident reporting a fire in a second-floor bedroom on the 25W100 block of Setauket Avenue, in the Century Hills subdivision.
When firefighters arrived, the two adult residents had evacuated the home as the fire began to spread to the hallway, attic and roof.
Firefighters said they were able to quickly put out the blaze. However, the fire left the home uninhabitable until the homeowners are able to make repairs. The fire department helped arrange for the residents to stay in a Naperville hotel until they can make further arrangements with their insurance company.
Although the cause of the fire is still being investigated, one of the residents told the department she saw the fire start near a bedroom space heater.
