Dundee Twp. Library offers fine forgiveness program

If your New Year's resolution was to return the stack of overdue library books to the Dundee Township Public library, you have less than a week to take advantage of the library's Fine Forgiveness Program.

Patrons who return overdue books to the library before Saturday, Jan. 23, will have half of the fine amount forgiven. That amount will be donated to the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville and the other half of the fine will be forgiven and forgotten.

Items must be returned before payment. Fees for damaged or lost items and collection or referral fees are not eligible for forgiveness.

The library also is looking for interested teens to join TAG - its Teen Action Group - to give input and opinions on how to make the space their own. The first meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the library, 555 Barrington Ave. in East Dundee.

Spray paint is not permitted, but fresh ideas for a Web page, blog, programs and books are encouraged. Games and snacks are also on the agenda, along with a planning session. For information, call Elizabeth Mavros at (847) 426-3661, ext. 320.

For the littler set, the Dundee Township Public Library has scheduled playmates, where babies and toddlers can play with toys and books while parents and guardians socialize. The baby playgroup time is 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays throughout February, while Little Ones Storytime is 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays in February. Online registration begins today.

The 20-minutes sessions are for toddlers to hear stories and nursery rhymes from puppets and finger plays. Go to dundeelibrary.info for more information and to sign up.

Perhaps your resolution was to get fit this year. The Dundee Township Park District Fitness Center has a list of monthly specials available now through May. In January, new and existing clients who purchase a package of 5, 10 or 20 personal training sessions will save 10 percent off the total purchase price.
