Writer wrong on health care facts
In response to a letter from Ron Gilkerson:
Mr. Gilkerson, what you don't mention in your praise of Bill Foster because he voted for the health care "reform" bill is that your Medicare benefits will not be what you're accustomed to.
Most of the doctors will refuse to accept Medicare patients because this bill calls for "approved" payments to doctors to be even less than they are now and the amount won't even begin to meet diagnosis or treatment expenditures.
You'll be hard-pressed to find a doctor who can survive on what they will be paid. Also, you'll have to start waiting for a very long time for an appointment because with 30 million more patients and 40 percent fewer doctors (the amount that say they will stop practicing if this bill passes) plus fewer people choosing medicine as a career the current doctor shortage will become even more severe. You'll probably die of your illness before an appointment becomes available.
Your statement that it's a bonus that the bill will save $10 billion in medical costs over the next 10 years is ridiculous. To whose costs do you refer, pray tell?
This 2,000-page nightmare that Foster and his colleagues didn't read is nothing but an ego trip for Obama. He has already proven that he couldn't care less about the American people or our beloved country. Every campaign promise of his has been broken except this outrageous bill that has made it through so far only because of his bribes to those who voted for it. He stooped to that level because it's the only way he could shove it down our throats before his State of the Union address.
No one denies that some sort of health care reform is in order and the Republicans presented many ideas that were ignored by the other side of the aisle, but not this monstrosity - one that will hurl our nation into decline and eventual bankruptcy.
