Lombard investigating apartment fire at apartment complex

The Lombard Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday inside an unoccupied apartment unit on the 800 block of Foxworth Blvd. in Lombard, inside the Clover Creek Apartment Complex.

Residents called the department just before 7:30 p.m. to report smoke in the apartment hallways and exiting the back of the unit, officials said.

The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes and contained to the unit, authorities said.

No one was injured, but officials said the structure and property damage primarily from the sprinkler system are estimated between $100,000 and $150,000.

Lombard firefighters were assisted by departments from Downers Grove, Oak Brook, Lisle and York Center Fire Protection District.
