UIC owns a five-game winning streak over Loyola, but most of them have been battles down to the last minute. Flames senior forward Jeremy Buttell has kicked it in during his final semester. After never scoring more than 16 points in a game, he's averaging 26.5 points and 10 rebounds in the last two games. Junior guard Robo Kreps, who's battling a shoulder injury, has hit 31 consecutive free throws. As for Loyola, which has started the same lineup every game, junior-college transfer Terrence Hill (12.0 ppg) has taken 53 more shots than the next-best Rambler. Sophomore forward Walt Gibler (11.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg) is the reigning Horizon League student-athlete of the month.
