Fire leaves St. Charles home uninhabitable

A fire caused approximately $120,000 in damage Thursday afternoon to a home at 504 Pin Oak Court in St. Charles, officials said.

After returning home from an errand, the owner discovered the blaze and called the fire department around 3:20 p.m., authorities said. No one else was inside the home, they added.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke emitting from the second floor of the two-story home and had the flames under control and contained to the area in about 25 minutes, said officials.

No one was injured, but authorities said the home is uninhabitable.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but officials said the fire is not considered suspicious.

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from Geneva, Batavia and West Chicago.
