Montini's Michala Johnson suffers meniscus injury
Michala Johnson's season could be cut short by another knee injury.
The Montini senior and Connecticut recruit went down minutes into Tuesday's game with Guerin with an injury to her right knee. Johnson did not return.
Johnson was examined by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Preston Wolin on Thursday morning. The preliminary diagnosis is a meniscus injury. If it is a sprain or strain Johnson would miss approximately two weeks. If the knee needs to be scoped, she would likely miss four weeks. A tear in the meniscus would sideline Johnson for the season.
Johnson goes for an MRI Thursday evening.
Johnson missed all but one game of her junior season because of a torn ACL in her left knee. Wolin performed the surgery on that knee in January 2009. Johnson had played in all but one game this season for the top-ranked Broncos (19-1).
Montini meets defending Class 4A champion Bolingbrook on Monday at the McDonald's Shootout at Willowbrook High School. Johnson is out for that game.
