Grand opening planned for Niles Meijer
Meijer is planning a grand opening celebration at its new location at 9000 W. Golf Road in Niles.
The retailer is teaming up with Radio Disney to present giveaways, contests and family-friendly activities during the opening celebration on Saturday, Jan. 23.
The store is opening quietly at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19. The new Meijer is 102,000 square feet, about half the size of most Meijer supercenters. This store will be grocery and pharmacy focused, while still providing some general merchandise offerings, said company spokesman Frank Guglielmi.
The new store will create up to 150 new jobs inside the store.
Meijer, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., operates 190 super centers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
