Experience speaks louder than promise

As an Illinois resident, I am well aware of the spiel of empty promises we are used to hearing from politicians in the past and as we approach the upcoming primary election. All of these so-called promises have left Illinois with soaring unemployment, rising taxes, home foreclosures, substantial state deficit and a credit worthiness ranked second-to-last.

The last thing Illinois needs right now is more promises; we need experience. We need someone who has done it before and will do it again. Bob Schillerstrom is the only candidate with this type of experience.

For the last 12 years he has run DuPage County, which happens to be larger than 6 states. He has reduced spending to 2003 levels, cut taxes 8 of 11 years, balanced the budget every single year since he took office and created a place where jobs and families want to locate.

DuPage County maintains the highest bond rating, which has been achieved by less than 1 percent of the counties in the U.S.

Even through the difficult times of 2009, DuPage ended the year with a surplus and has an even lower budget in 2010 than it did in 2009. Imagine how Springfield could benefit from this type of experienced leadership. On Feb. 2, I will be placing my vote for Bob Schillerstrom - a candidate whose experience speaks louder than a promise.
