Local teens implicated in Elgin home invasion
Three local teenagers have been arrested in connection with a Tuesday night home invasion on the west side that sent one person to the hospital.
Charged with home invasion were Troy E. Bradford, 19, of the 100 block of South Center Street, South Elgin, and Marc O. Duncan, 17, of the 500 block of West Highland Avenue, Elgin, according to court documents.
Bradford was also charged residential burglary and two counts of aggravated battery, while Duncan faces an additional residential burglary charge. As well, Alexis Monton, 18, of the 0-100 block of Crystal Street, Elgin, was charged with residential burglary, according to court documents.
All three were arrested Thursday.
Police said that at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the trio went to an apartment in the 200 block of Walnut Street and knocked on the door. When a man they knew answered the door, one of the teens punched him in the face and the group continued to beat him up, knocking out one of his teeth, and took money from him.
The man who treated and released from Provena St. Joseph Hospital for facial injuries, Deputy Chief Jeffrey Swoboda said.
On Friday morning, Kane County Judge Bruce W. Lester set Bradford's bond at $125,000, Duncan's at $100,000 and Monton's at $50,000.
They need to post 10 percent to secure their release while the case is pending.
None was able to come up with that money and as of Friday afternoon, they were awaiting their next court date in the Kane County lockup. All three are due in court next Friday at the Kane County Judicial Center.
If found guilty of home invasion, Bradford and Duncan could spend between six and 30 years in prison.
Monton would be looking at four to 15 years behind bars if she is convicted of residential burglary.
