Police: Carpentersville man busted with more than pound of pot

Carpentersville police on Tuesday nabbed a man who they say planned to distribute large amounts of marijuana out of his house.

Luis H. Alvarez, 40, of the 100 block of Caddy Avenue, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver more than 500 grams and possession of more than 500 grams of marijuana.

Police, who arrested Alvarez as part of an undercover investigation, said they found five separate bags of marijuana with a total weight of 716 grams, as well as a scale.

Alvarez's bond was set Wednesday morning at $20,000, which means he needs $2,000 to secure his release while the case is pending. His next court date is Jan 14. at the Kane County Judicial Center.

If found guilty of the delivery charge, he could spend up to seven years behind bars.
