Wolves notes: Sipotz returns

The Chicago Wolves have recalled defenseman Brian Sipotz from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators.

Sipotz was held scoreless in three games with the Gladiators since being assigned on Dec. 28. The 28-year-old blueliner has notched 2 assists and 18 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Wolves this season.

Overall, the South Bend, Ind., native has tallied 39 assists, 48 points and 184 penalty minutes in 335 regular-season AHL outings with Chicago from 2004 to 2009.

Three's company: Heading into Wednesday night's road game, Chicago was on a three-game winning streak and has posted victories in five of its last six outings.

Around the ice: Peter Mannino, the AHL Player of the Week after turning aside 100 of 104 shots, has held opponents to two or fewer goals in nine of his 12 outings this season for the Wolves.

• Brett Sterling has netted a goal in each of his last two outings after being held scoreless in his previous two contests. He ranks second in the AHL with 18 goals in 31 games this season.

• Anthony Stewart has collected 4 points (2G, 2A) in three games this week to extend his point streak to six games, which matches a team season-high; he has posted 3 goals and 7 points during that span.

• Wolves captain Jason Krog has dished out 4 assists in his last three games; the 34-year-old forward paces the Wolves and shares first in the AHL with 29 assists and leads the team and shares seventh in the league with 35 points in 33 games this year.

• The Wolves have potted 16 power-play goals in their last 15 games (16 of 66) after scoring only 10 man-advantage markers in their previous 20 matchups (10 of 79); Chicago ranks 11th in the AHL with a 17.9 efficiency rating on the power-play (26 of 145).
