Winter storm warning begins this evening

A winter storm warning for the entire Chicago metropolitan area has been issued, in effect from 9 p.m. this evening until noon Friday.

This afternoon's cloudiness with steady temperatures in the lower 20s should change to snow this evening with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches before morning. The low will be in the teens.

New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible Thursday, forecasters say. The high will be near 22. Snow and areas of blowing snow before midnight, then snow likely and areas of blowing snow after midnight. Low around 8. Wind chill values as low as minus 10.
