New location for meeting:The Lake County Board's monthly committee-of-the-whole meeting will be Friday at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake, not its usual location in Libertyville. The gathering is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the campus, 1200 University Drive. It will be followed by a brunch with local state legislators and a discussion of the county's legislative wish list for 2010.Finance talk at Grayslake District 46:An inaugural meeting of a Grayslake Elementary District 46 finance committee is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at Grayslake Middle School, just west of Library Lane and Route 83. Officials have assembled the advisory committee in a quest to identify ways to fill a projected $2.2 million budget hole for the 2010-11 academic year. District 46's elected school board members will make the final decision about the budget. Public comment will be accepted at the end of the special meeting.10th congress forum on Jan. 9:Candidates running for the 10th Congressional District will meet the public on Saturday, Jan. 9, as the League of Women Voters of Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Buffalo Grove Area hosts a forum in the board room of Arlington Heights village hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. The forum begins at 9:30 a.m. Republican and Democratic primary candidates are invited. The forum is free. Park on any floor of the municipal garage, in spaces marked "visitor" or "municipal employee." Handicapped accessible parking is on the first level. The forum will be shown live and rebroadcast on the Arlington Heights access channels: Channel 6 on WideOpenWest and Channel 17 on Comcast. Route 59, Lake Villa. A wide range of career and job opportunities will be represented including professional, hourly, technical and nontechnical jobs, in addition to summer and part-time jobs. Employers include, The Lake County Fielders, Lake County Forest Preserve District, Allendale and the United States Census 2010. The job fair is free for candidates and employers.
