Help available for home repairs in Hoffman
The village of Hoffman Estates' Single-Family Rehabilitation program may be able to help if you are lacking money for home repairs. Qualified homeowners may be eligible for a zero percent interest-deferred loan up to a maximum amount of $25,000 with no monthly payments, as long as the homeowner lives in and retains the title to the home.
These loans are part of the village's Community Development Block Grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
To qualify for a loan (at the minimum) you must reside in Hoffman Estates; own, live in and have equity in the home you wish to repair; do not have money to pay for the needed repairs; be current on property taxes and mortgage; have a total family income (before deductions) not higher than the amounts listed in the following income table.

The money can be used to correct code violations as well as unsafe or deteriorated conditions. Loans cannot be used for remodeling or decorating. The following kinds of repairs can be covered: basic structural repairs, roofing, doors and windows, electrical, plumbing, heating and weatherization.
All loan applications will be considered, and homes will be inspected by a building inspector and North West Housing Partnership staff.
