Young man makes Christmas special
You always hear the bad things about our young people. I want people to know that right here in our local community a lot of good is being done.
We know just such a person. A young Northern Illinois graduate, Jason Wieser of Buffalo Grove, had a dream. He said he wanted to put smiles on the face of sick children this holiday season. He made phone calls and sent e-mails to Chicago's Children Memorial Hospital telling them what he wanted to do.
He received the proper authorization to proceed. This set his dream in action. He rang doorbells, made phone calls and sent out e-mails to family, friends, and neighbors. Much to his amazement he had received enough toys and donations to purchase more toys to fill two vans.
Jason went one step further; he presented his project to his former grammar school, District 21's Tarkington School in Wheeling. To support Jason, they in turn took this on as their giving project this holiday season. The outpouring response he received was wonderful. One little boy said that he went to his piggy bank to make sure a little one had a gift for this holiday.
The school collected over $500 to add to his project. He has contacted the hospital to see if there is any special item or items he can purchase such as a Wii for their entertainment during their stay in the hospital.
Jason will not be able to present these gifts personally to the children, but he certainly can be assured that he will be putting "smiles" on their faces. He (went) down to Children's the weekend before Christmas with his family to present the toys for ages 0 to teens to the hospital.
This is one fine young man. Of course, who wouldn't be proud, we're his grandparents.
