Wayne Township Senior Center honored

The Wayne Township Senior Center, 27W031 North Ave., West Chicago, recently received recognition from more than one agency for its programs and staff.

On Nov. 10, at the awards breakfast at the annual Township of Illinois convention, they received two awards from a group of seniors and awards committee of Illinois Township Association of Senior Citizens Services Committee. One award was for "Innovative Senior Program Award" for the outstanding program of support to the community and the other award went to the senior director assistant, Paula Trigger for "Senior Staff Member." In addition to these awards, they received three more at the awards luncheon at the Governors Conference from the Association of Illinois Senior Centers on Dec. 11 in Chicago. These awards were for marketing, web design and another for senior director Paula Eaton for "Senior Director of the Year." Starting with only nine members, Wayne Township Senior Center is going into its 30th year and now boasts more than 500 members, not an easy task for only two full-time and one part-time staff members.
