Christians are under attack in schools
The Christmas Day column by Susan Estrich entitled "The real war on Christmas goes beyond symbols" was another example of half truths and idle prattle about many things. Christian symbols are prohibited by lawsuits on many occasions from being placed on public buildings at no expense to the taxpayer by actions of the ACLU and other similar organizations.
Their purpose is to destroy the Christian Witness and any morally correct activities in order to advance the politically correct agenda of the extreme left. Susan also says, "Christians are not under attack in America." Does she read or see any of the many conservative reports on current conditions in many school systems? In one Florida school district, no school personnel are permitted to say a prayer at any time in public. Three of that faculty were arrested recently for doing so, even though it was not done at a school function. However, they were exonerated, and because of this, the ACLU must defend itself in a lawsuit that has already been filed against them to protect school staff.
In most school districts, children are not even permitted to offer a prayer for their lunch at school, and teachers are not allowed to have a Bible setting on their desk. Freedom of religion should allow any individual the opportunity for prayer, reading of the Bible or the Koran or whatever religious material he or she desires. However, some school districts limit these freedoms for Christians, but allow, some even supply, prayer rugs for the Muslim students. Some even pay for Muslim class time, but do not allow it for Christians, whether they be Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, etc. Since Susan claims to be Jewish, she should have had some of those same freedoms while in school.
