Don't forget those in armed services

As we settle in for the holidays and enjoy time with our families and friends, let us remember the extraordinary young men and women who wear the uniform of the United States. So many of the finest from our communities have and continue to step up to enlist at a time of war, aware of the challenges and danger, but with a greater sense of responsibility, well beyond their years.

During this holiday season a Coast Guardsman patrols and secures our borders, a Navy Corpsman saves a life, an Airman stands watch at a nuclear missile base, a soldier trains for duty in Iraq and a young Marine engages the enemy in Afghanistan. As we watch the joy and magic of Christmas in the face of a child, let us also remember the faces of those young warriors who sacrifice for each one of us and who are always there to ensure the defense of the greatest nation in the world.
