Aurora cops looking to return stolen items

Instead for looking for a suspect, Aurora police are looking for victims.

Police have recovered several stolen items, authorities said Wednesday, and hope to return them to their rightful owners.

The recovered goods include a white 30G iPod, an LCD monitor that may be part of a vehicle's DVD system, an AIWA car stereo, Naxa car stereo, Bazooka speaker box and a USB memory card reader.

Anyone missing such items may call police at (630) 801-6657. Dan Ferrelli, director of public information for the city, said the items have either distinguishable marks and/or serial numbers that will help police ensure the rightful owner is claiming them.

The items were found in the car of Anthony J. Kostrzewa, 20, of the 2S800 block of Meadowview Road, Batavia.

Kostrzewa was arrested just after 2:30 a.m. Dec. 22 after police responded to a suspicious person call near Savannah and Pinnacle drives. Police said they found him in possession of burglary tools and found numerous stolen items in his car, some of which already have been returned to their owners.

Kostrzewa was charged with entering two unlocked vehicles in the 3000 block of Secretariat Drive and one in the 3100 block of Preakness Drive on the city's far east side. He is being held in the Kane County Adult Justice Center.
