Jim Ryan is best choice for governor
In the gubernatorial election that pitted Blagojevich against Jim Ryan, the former and most corrupt governor (and Blago had plenty of competition) in Illinois history was aided by Ryan's own Republican Party with the likes of Cellini, Kjellander, et al.
The Republican Party now has the opportunity to make amends by helping Ryan to win the governor's mansion and restore some stability and respect to whatever may be left in this state to save.
I have known Jim and the Ryan family since Jim was in law school. I have been an elected committeeman since 1966 and Jim's mom, dad and siblings lived and voted in my then-Elmhurst precinct. I have followed and supported Jim throughout his long and unselfish political career.
Like many, I also felt the sufferings of his family during the unfortunate and tragic series of events in the family's personal life.
One could find no one family or no one political person with more honesty and integrity. Those qualities are somewhat rare among politicians of either party in these tumultuous times.
Many opponents will bring up the issues in the Nicarico case, but then State's Attorney Ryan simply followed the evidence and that is exactly what prosecutors are supposed to do.
The record will show Jim Ryan has served the offices of DuPage County State's Attorney and Illinois Attorney General with honor and great discipline.
Should the Republican Party forsake their best candidate in this race they will, once again, get what the party justly deserves, a state government full of spenders, corruption and self-serving politicos that money can buy.
