Good reason to be an obstructionist
Several writers have complained about the Republicans being obstructionists. I confess, I don't like what Obama is doing. What don't I like? I think he's getting the country into way too much debt.
The most recent Treasury auction showed a reluctance to buy our government paper. Not a good sign. As a senior, I'm not happy about not receiving a cost-of-living increase in social security. I didn't pay into the system for 40 years to be treated like this. My utilities, insurance, etc., keep going up and now I see the local school district wants to raise my property taxes.
The Democrats want to add millions of people to Medicare and cut billions from the program. How's that going to work? Easy, doctors won't take Medicare patients or see only a limited few. The Democrats passed an $800 billion-plus "stimulus" bill designed to create jobs. Half has been spent and unemployment has gone up anyway. Moreover, Recovery. Org has lied to the American public about the number of jobs created by this bill. And now Obama wants a "jobs" bill. More money spent, and likely no more jobs. And stop blaming everything on Bush. The Democrats had a majority in Congress for the last two years of the Bush White House. If they didn't like things, why didn't THEY change them? And keep in mind that Dems Chris Dodd and Barney Frank pushed through legislation that allowed people to buy homes with little or no down payment - the start of the housing crisis. Even today, you can get an FHA loan with only 3.5 percent down, which spells more trouble for the housing market down the road. I don't think the majority of people in this country are happy about the direction the country is headed. Just wait until the next elections.
