Leyden rebounds to tip Downers North

Leyden's boys basketball team suffered no letdown after a tough overtime loss to Plainfield Central in Monday night's semifinals of the Lemont Christmas Classic.

The Eagles broke out to an 8-point lead after a quarter and held on to be West Suburban Conference rival Downers Grove North 56-54 in the large-school bracket third-place game Tuesday.

Brandon Stinson had a team-high 13 points and was 3-for-6 on 3-pointers for Leyden (5-6). Mike Woolf added 12 points and 5 assists and Patrick Listwan and Eric Palmer scored 9 points apiece.

Leyden plays Westmont (7-5) at 2 p.m. today for fifth place overall in the tournament.
