Casey named new Aurora Central Catholic football coach

Aurora Central Catholic named Brian Casey varsity football coach, taking over for 23-year veteran Mike Curry.

Casey served as the sophomore coach for the past three school years as well as coordinating varsity special teams during the 2009 season. He is a graduate of Montini and attended St. Ambrose University for two years before graduating from the University of Florida.

Casey also serves as the school's assistant development director and assistant athletic director. He follows Curry as the fifth football coach in the school's history. Casey will lead the Chargers as they enter their first season in the Suburban Christian Conference Gold Division for football during the 2010/11 school year.

"We strongly believe that the needs of any athletic program, especially a cornerstone program such as football, requires that a coach be a staff member and available to students throughout the school day," ACC athletic director Michael Armato said in a statement. "Coach Casey, through his various job duties, has developed strong relationships with many of the students and is someone who is approachable and available for the kids. He brings very high ideas and new plans for the direction of this program."

Coach Casey will be coordinating the hiring of his coaching staff over the next few weeks. Interested candidates are welcome to send current resumes to the school's athletic department.
