Redbox: 'Paul Blart' the most rented movie in 2009

Oakbrook Terrace-based Redbox announced that it rented more than 350 million movies in 2009.

The fully-automated DVD rental provider located at grocery, drug and convenience stores, released the top rentals of the year. "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" topped the list of the most-rented movies logging more than 4.5 million Redbox rentals. "The Proposal," "Taken," "Gran Torino" and "Knowing" followed as the top rentals.

The company says each automated Redbox kiosk holds 630 DVDs, representing up to 200 of the newest releases. Consumers simply use a touch screen to select their favorite movies, swipe a credit or debit card, pay $1 and go.
