Thomson move shows pride in country

The move of Guantanamo Bay inmates to the Thomson Correction Center in Illinois is a sign of progress for our nation.

It signals faith in our country's justice system, while at the same time demonstrating that the United States will model democracy for the world. We will no longer tolerate the inhumane abuses sanctioned by the last presidential administration. That the new jobs created by this renovated prison will benefit our state in particular is an additional benefit from this move.

The work of our national and state leaders to make this happen makes me proud to be from Illinois.
