Something to sing about

Elgin OPERA's annual holiday party on Sunday, Dec. 27, will be a not-so-silent night at Villa Verone. The all-inclusive authentic Italian buffet including appetizer, salad, main course, dessert, soft drinks, coffee, tax and tip for $22. Diners will be serenaded with songs ranging from Broadway to Italian to famous opera arias. Reservations required.

Kids celebrate NYE

The Lucky Monk invites its youngest patrons to a party on New Year's Eve. From 5 to 7 p.m., children will celebrate with free pizza, soda and a unique countdown at 6:59 p.m. The recently opened restaurant and brewery concept will also be open for lunch in addition to having a DJ at 9 p.m. for adults. The Lucky Monk features more than 34 beers, including house-brewed and local craft-brewed drafts and a variety of bottles.
