Public hearing on eSkape Jan. 4
The Buffalo Grove village board has delayed until Jan. 4 a public hearing on the proposed dance club at eSkape entertainment center, 350 McHenry Road.
Village Manager William Brimm said the village has continued discussions with eSkape's managing partner, Bill Feldgreber, but the stumbling block is still the requirement that eSkape pay for two uniformed police officers. Feldgreber said the cost of $68 per hour per officer is too high.
Brimm said it is possible for the cost to be as low as $42 for an entry-level officer, but there is none available at this time.
Feldgreber is proposing to use a small portion of the entertainment center for dance nights for older teens and young adults. But Buffalo Grove police Chief Steve Balinski has registered concerns relating to crime and wants a minimum of two police officers on the site.
Brimm has emphasized that the fee would cover the cost of providing the officers and not generate revenue for the village.
"We're not in a position to give away our services," he said.
