Lake Co. judge named:

Margaret Marcouiller, chief of the civil division of the Lake County states attorney's office, has been named an associate judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit. Marcouiller, of Libertyville, was chosen by the circuit judges of Lake County to fill the position created by the retirement of Associate Judge Victoria Martin. A graduate of Northwestern University and Loyola University School of Law, Marcouiller worked as an assistant attorney general and in the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts before becoming a Lake County assistant state's attorney in 1994. Chief Judge James Booras will swear Marcouiller into office on Jan. 4.

Winter concert in Grayslake:

Grayslake Area Public Library will kick off an inaugural free winter concert series at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10. Trio Elan will be the featured act in the first of three monthly events. Founded in 1983, three principal musicians of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago joined forces to make up Trio Elan. Darlene Drew will play the flute, with Jeri-Lou Zike on violin and Jill Kaeding playing cello. The group has performed at Orchestra Hall and several Chicago venues. Seating for the concerts will be limited. The events are sponsored by Friends of the Library. The library is at 100 Library Lane, just west of Route 83 and Center Street. Lake County Clerk Willard Helander urges Lake County voters to check their registration status online by visiting AmIRegistered.info or by calling the Voter Registration Department at (847) 377-2410. An individual may register to vote in Illinois after providing two forms of identification. You must be 18 or older and live in the precinct for 30 days before the election and be a U.S. citizen. Those planning to vote in February's primary must be registered by Jan. 5, Helander said. A voter can register in person at the County Clerk's office, or most municipal, township and library facilities. The County Clerk's office, 18 N. County Street, Room 101, Waukegan, is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays.
