Christmas tree disposal set in Hoffman Estates

Christmas tree collection is scheduled for the first two weeks of January 2010. There is no change for Monday or Wednesday garbage collections.

Please remember that all lights, ornaments, garland and artificial decorations must be removed from the tree, plastic disposal bags are prohibited and one disposal sticker must be attached to the tree trunk or branch. Flocked trees are acceptable. Wreaths and garland will also be accepted, provided the wiring has been removed. These items should be placed in a kraft paper yard-waste bag with a disposal sticker attached. Leftover yard waste and bags of leaves will also be accepted, provided the required disposal sticker is attached to each bag or bundle of material. Yard-waste stickers are available at local retailers, village hall and on the village's Web site.

Trees can also be dropped off at no charge anytime between Saturday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Jan. 8, at the facility maintenance building, 2405 Pembroke Ave., or the field next to fire station 23, 1300 Westbury Drive. Signs will direct residents to drop-off areas at both locations. Residents may also obtain free wood chips from these trees on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring your own container.
