Caterpillar unveils new electric tractor
PEORIA -- Caterpillar Inc. has unveiled the first-of-its-kind electric drive track-type tractor.
Locally, Caterpillar has operations in Montgomery.
At a ceremony Tuesday in Peoria, the first model of the D7E, adorned with a bright red ribbon was presented to its new owner, Dan Klingberg, president of T.J. Lambrecht, a Joliet-based contractor. Klingberg says his company plans to put the new tractor to work on projects like the O'Hare International Airport modernization project.
Caterpillar Inc. Group Chairman Doug Oberholm said the D7E demonstrates Caterpillar's commitment to the industry with a machine that does more work and consumes less fuel and parts, providing customers with lower owning and operating costs.
