The Night before Christmas (sort of)
T'was the night after Christmas and all through the home
My house is so quiet as I write you this poem
The stockings were thrown all over the floor
And I was so tired right to my core.
The children all sleeping, the husband was too
I did not know where to start, what to do
I was exhausted as I tried to attack
The mess in the house from the front to the back.
The presents were broken all over the place
The house was all dirty, a real disgrace
As I sat in my chair right there in my kitchen
It would do me no good if I started b------'.
The bills would be coming before the New Year
And Walmart and Target would soon make it clear
They had to be paid as quick as the sleigh
That had brought all those presents on this Christmas Day.
So remember this mom and give her some space
And when you wake up help her clean up the place
Please remember what Christmas is really about
And pick up your mess and please help me out.
To all of you out there all far and near
Know that Don and Pat Slavik wish Happy New Year
Remember me next Christmas all you women and men
And to all in the world Happy Two Thousand Ten.
