Pack the Pantries a tremendous success
On behalf of the FC Barrington and FCX North travel soccer clubs, we would like to thank the Barrington and Lake Zurich Jewel-Osco store patrons for their generous support of our club-wide "Pack the Pantries" food drive which we conducted on Nov. 21 and 22. Our players and parents witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of goodness and generosity from our communities.
From the very first hour we began collecting donations on Saturday morning until the very last pickup on Sunday evening, the amount of donations we received was staggering! We could have never anticipated the overwhelming quantity of food and household items donated.
We started the weekend with 5 boxes, but ended with more than 185 boxes and large bags stuffed to capacity. Imagine over: 1,000 cans of soup; 200 cans of tuna; 650 jars of peanut butter and jelly; 1,200 cans of fruits and vegetables; 150 large containers of coffee; 150 large bottle of detergent; more than 1,800 rolls of toilet paper, and this isn't even everything! You were part of something really incredible.
Thank you for the beautiful example you set for our players, not only showing them how wonderful it is to give so generously to help those in need, but also what the power of many can accomplish. At a time when there is great demand on the local food pantries, you helped us help others. We are so grateful for your support!
