Rehashing history a waste of time

This is in response to Peter Grant's absurd letter about what the world would be like without George W. Bush.

First of all, the premise of the post is a waste of paper and ink. The statement "It's likely if Al Gore had pulled out victory in 2000, 9/11 would probably not have happened" is not supported by any evidence.

We could just as easily make the statement, "If Bill Clinton had been paying attention and listening to his advisers, Osama bin Ladin wouldn't have been alive to plan the 9/11 attacks."

It has long been known Clinton could have taken him out long before he left office. 9/11 could just as easily be said to be his fault.

But regardless of his silly assertion, the whole idea of second-guessing history is a useless waste of time. Shall we go back and wonder what would the world look like without Adolf Hitler? Or if the Americans had not won the Revolutionary War, would we already have the English socialized system of medicine? Or if the button had been pushed in the Cuban Missile Crisis, what then? Or what if Jesus Christ had not been resurrected? Or what if Al Gore had not invented the Internet!?!

Is this really the type of discussion we are going to waste our time with?

The fact of the matter is this: George W. Bush won, 9/11 happened, the war began and Obama is continuing the strategies of war Bush put in place for a reason. Time will tell if it was right or wrong.

But to state that 9/11 happened because of an election is irresponsible, especially without support.

Bad things happen because EVIL exists in this world. If it's not one thing, it will be another.
