Don't be afraid to say Merry Christmas

Thank you Harold Knudsen of Arlington Heights for your letter about Christmas. You put it all so nicely. I for one, along with my family, am thankful that someone finally spoke up to the politically correct crowd and explained to them as Christians we are not using holiday tree, holiday display, holiday party or anything but what we have always known it as, and call it ... Christmas.

I am Catholic, first generation Irish, and Christmas is Christmas to me just as Hanukkah is to my Jewish friends, Happy Kwanzaa to my African-American friends, and Blessed Eid to my Muslim friends, and so on and so on. This nonsense of offending someone because they are of a different religion is just as Harold said, idiotic.

This is the United States of America. We are a melting pot of different countries, religions, colors, shapes and sizes for crying out loud. Worship where you chose and in your own way, embrace your heritage and the country your family came from, keep your family traditions and pass them down to your children and grandchildren, that is what our family is doing.

So thank you again, Harold, for your wonderful article and Merry Christmas!
